The 1.6-km long, 17-metre wide and 4-lane, BKC- Chunabhatti flyover provide a faster route to the Eastern Express Highway with an intention of reducing commute time for people.
Reduced commute time is what concerns Mumbaikars. Bringing suburbs closer to the business hub has driven various Government infrastructures. Recently, Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a key flyover in Mumbai connecting the business hub of Bandra-Kurla Complex with Chunabhatti on the Eastern Express Highway.
Another major advantage of this BKC- Chunabhatti flyover is that it brings Thane closer to BKC. This new flyover emerges as a connecting medium for people travelling to Thane as these are the people who commute via Eastern Express Highway.
Thirdly, it will also ease the traffic at the Western Express Highway which witnesses rush from Dharavi, Sion and Chunabhatti towards BKC. Starting from the G-block of BKC & after crossing Mithi river, LBS Marg, Central railway tracks leads to Chunabhatti railway station.
The connector is bound to cut travel time by 30 minutes and distance by 3 km. Thus resulting in less traffic congestion in Sion and Dharavi regions. Hence, such infrastructural developments will lead to seamless connectivity between the eastern and the western suburbs.
The Maharashtra CM stated that a fish belly shaped elevated corridor through BKC, Babubhai Compound, Central Railway (near Sion), Duncan Colony, Harbour Line (Chunabhatti station), Somaiya ground and lands at Eastern Express Highway, is our yet another step towards bringing ease in living for Mumbaikars.
